Dr. Colleran Dr. Elizabeth J. Colleran: 1990 graduate Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine; 1996 Masters of Science in Animals and Public Policy, Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine; Member: American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, American Association of Feline Practitioners, Academy of Feline Medicine Fellow, Director of American Association of Feline Practitioners; 2003 Northern California Small Business Person of the Year.
Cory Dr. Cory Gadwood: Cory grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and began her career in the veterinary field in 1990. She received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Humboldt State University in 1999 and obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University. She is committed to high quality and personalized care for each patient and takes into account all aspects of the animal, including each pet’s environment and nutrition. In addition to practicing conventional medicine, she plans to pursue a more holistic approach to veterinary medicine by acquiring Certification in Veterinary Acupuncture and a Certificate of Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine. Dr. Gadwood happily lives with two cats: Luvduv and Cipher and two dogs: Dezzi and Gump. She enjoys yoga, biking, and various outdoor activities.Current member of: Portland Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Feline Practitioners, American Veterinary Medical Association, and International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.
Matthew Dr. Amelie Hatfield: Amelie hails from Dallas, Texas, and began her career in veterinary medicine in 1996. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Texas in 1999 and continued to work for several years before earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in January 2007. Additionally, she earned her Certificate of Veterinary Acupuncture from the Chi Institute in January 2007. Amelie feels that cats and “cat people” are very special, and strongly supports a tailored feline approach. Just like potato chips, you can’t have just one, and Amelie understands that an important homeostasis exists within the multiple cat home. With a commitment to excellent and loving care for your feline family, Amelie will also throw in affectionate nicknames—such as Pickle Pot Pie, Pee Pee von FiFi, and Growly McGrowlerson—free of charge. Dr Hatfield lives with her two spoiled cats, Trader and Memphis. Current member of the AVMA, OVMA, and AAFP.
Matthew Dr. Matthew Marasco, Relief Doctor: Dr. Matthew Marasco comes from a compassionate family of veterinarians; his father is a retired small animal practitioner, and his cousin is a feline practitioner in California. In pursuing his dream of being a Veterinarian, he first completed an undergraduate degree in physiology at UCD, followed by his doctorate of Veterinary medicine degree at Universidad Antonoma de Mexico UNAM in Mexico City. Dr. Marasco has a strong interest in internal medicine and dermatology and is pleased to be a dedicated feline practitioner. He resides in Portland with his family, and in his spare time he enjoys cycling, hiking, cooking, and watching movies.
Samantha, Certified Veterinary Technician: Samantha graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at Pierce Community College in 1996. She takes great pride in caring for people and their pets. She has three cats and a dog. In her time off, Samantha enjoys cycling, hiking, and spending time with her daughter.
Keri, Certified Veterinary Technician: Keri completed the Apollo College Veterinary Assistant program with perfect attendance and a 4.0 grade point average. She recently completed the Veterinary Medical Examining Board exam to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. She has two tortoise shell cats and has always had many animals in her life, from exotic birds to horses. She loves working for animals and enjoys helping them with the rest of the Cat Hospital staff.
Wendy, Receptionist: Wendy has been working with Cat Hospital of Portland since they opened in 2004. Previous to that she worked for the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society in New Mexico. In her free time she mixes her two passions of photography and oil painting into mixed media artwork. She has been showing her work for 14 years. For the first time in her life she is without a cat but her heart is filled with the love of her dog Edie.
Christine Christine , Veterinary Assistant: Christine is originally from Southern California and has lived in Oregon for 15 years. Although Christine has a lifelong love of all animals, she has worked exclusively with cats for the past three years. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her son Austin, dog Abby and cat Turtle.
Jean Jean, Veterinary Assistant: Jean is a lifelong animal lover who has recently moved to Portland from the Washington DC metro area. She has a background in veterinary holistic and rehabilitative medicine and has worked in a feline veterinary setting. She enjoys walking, cooking, and spending time with her own kitty, Robin.
Mindy Mindy, Relief Technician: Mindy recently moved from Sacramento, CA. where she worked as a technician in a feline–exclusive clinic for 10 years. She and her husband and 3 cats are enjoying exploring the great Northwest and are happy to call it their new home.
Suzanne Suzanne, Veterinary Assistant: Suzanne is a recent graduate of the Carrington College Veterinary Assistant Program. She previously spent 2 years as a groomer’s assistant working with dogs and cats, but cat’s have always held a special place in her heart. Suzanne loves to spend time with her husband, Robert and her 2 cats, Benji and Xoee.
